I have a Dream

The prayer that God is pleased with…..

A cobbler and a priest died. The cobbler was hard working, totally immersed in his work all the time. The priest spent most of his time in prayer and meditation, and was venerated for his piety and holiness.

Both the soul went to the pearly gate of heaven. The cobbler was admitted immediately into heaven while the priest was asked to wait.

The priest waited for some time and was becoming irritable. He complained to St. Peter, who was guarding the heavenly gate:  “How is it that you admitted the cobbler immediately into heaven? He never attended church services and never prayer. I, who had spent most of my time in prayer and contemplation, have been asked to wait, in this fair?”

St. Peter answered; “You are wrong. The cobbler did pray to the lord with only one sentence everyday before going to bed. Our lord was much pleased with his one sentence prayer.”

The moral of the story: The cobbler used to pray “Oh Lord, I had no time to pray. Please forgive me.”

Sincerity is regarded more valuable in the spiritual realm than mere rituals and prayer.
