I have a Dream

WISHING YOU ALL MERRY CHRISTMAS

Work Sharper Not Harder.

A hard working young man was engaged to cut trees in a forest.
On the first day e felled seven trees in eight Hours. The next day he managed to fall only five, though he worked for Eight Hours.
On the third day he could fell only three trees. On the fourth day the number trees felled came down to one.

Puzzled about his deteriorating performance, he sought the advice of his boss. The Boss asked him a Simple question.
"Did you sharpen your axe?" The young man said "NO".

The blunt axe was giving him less return on his labor.
MORAL OF THE STORY

Work sharper, not harder, this is an essential principle of time management. To get worthwhile results one should work in an organized manner.

Success is what success does…………

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who follow the road carved out by others; and those, who like Howard Roark in Ayn Rand’s The fountainhead set their own course and define their own parameters of success.

The first believe in playing safe; choosing a path least laden with difficulty. But the second thrive on challenges because they are seeking out their own truth. These are the people who are awed and revered, respected and admired by subsequent generations – The supposed leaders, not managers of the world. NO one remembers managers and no one forgets the leaders.

At Bhaskar, I have tried my best to create such leaders. When I look back and see I feel the success in each and every manager & employees which brings in immense pride and the ultimate sense of achievement.

There has been a magical transformation in the employees that comes about in their personalities, lives and careers after my assuming charge of Gwalior Unit.

The employees of our organisation are the brand ambassadors. When I see a very successful manager or leader I see a reflection of my own story and a realisation of my own dreams and aspirations. My advice to all is – don’t be afraid. Make a choice take wing and fly into the borderless infinity as did Jonathon Livingstone seagull. For if you limit yourself; You will limit your destiny.

Be a Good Samaritan, Do good, Be a good soul and Get the best in life.

Best of Luck!!!!

KEEP YOUR PASSION AND ENTHUSIASM ALIVE

Spending more time on what you love to do help you to maintain passion and enthusiasm. Discover your true purpose, decide what you really want to do or have, believe you can do and have it, delegating your work to be able to concentrate on your core competence and taking concrete steps towards attaining your goal.

All the things that you feel you have to do are nothing but choices you have made to serve higher purpose such as feeding your family, creating security for the future etc. In addition to all the choices that you make you can also make a choice of attitude. If you are trapped in an elevator with three other strangers, you have a choice about your attitude. You can get grumpy about being trapped, or you can see it as an opportunity to meet new people. The choice is yours. So why not choose to do things with joy and enthusiasm.

Passion and enthusiasm act like magnets. People get attracted to you because of your high level of energy and like to be associated with you, be a part of your team, and support your dreams and goals. Hence, resulting in getting more done in a shorter period of time.

3 Things in life……..

3 things in life…….that destroy a person- Greed, Pride & Anger.

3 things in life…… are never sure- Dreams, Success & Fortune.

3 things in life…… that make you a great person- Hard work, Sincerity and Success.

3 things in life…… are most valuable – Love, Self-confidence & Friends.

3 Things in life…….must not be lost- Peace, Hope & Honesty.

3 things in life……..once gone never come back- Words, Opportunity & Time.

Perseverance and failure cannot coexist

Perseverance and failure cannot coexist. Failure happens when you quit. When all is said and done, perseverance commonly referred to as “Stick- to itiveness,” is the ultimate success insurance. Nothing can take its place.

From learning to walk to riding a bicycle, our childhood teaches us that failure only occurs when we stop trying.

It’s a lesson many of us need to revisit in our adulthood. Then we need to consciously apply the techniques and principles that keep us on the “Perseverance Track.”

For example, the world is full of those who “Tried” to get a business going. After meeting with difficulty or rejections, they quit. They accepted failure, and faded back into the crowd never to be heard from again. The worst part is not that they quit their business, but that they quit themselves.

Failure is a part of the learning process. Ultimately, the people who persevere through the stumbling process learn enough to become successful.

Remember the words of Vince Lombardi, “We never lost a game, we just ran out of time.

Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on his faithfulness.

Psalm 37: 1, 2 & 3

“A son and his father were walking on the mountains. Suddenly his son falls, hurts himself and screams. “AAhhhhh!!!” To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: “AAhhhhh!!!” curious, he yells: “Who are you?”

He receives the answer; “Who are you?” And then he screams to the mountain: “I admire you!” The voice answer: “I admire you!” Angered at the response, he screams: “Coward!” He receives the answer: “Coward!” He looks to his father and asks: “What’s going on?”

The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.” Again the man screams: “You are a Champion!” The voice answers: “You are a champion!” The boy is surprised, but does not understand.

        Then the father explains:

“People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your Team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have given to it.”

If You Think You Have Failed

What is failure to a person depends on their thoughts. Many successful people are familiar with failure as they take them on as lessons to be learned in one’s life. You will not know success if you don’t know what failure is. The next time that you think you have failed and feel like giving up, then think of Abraham Lincoln.

Age 21    :  Failed in Business

Age 22   :  Defeated in a legislative race

Age 24   :  Failed again in business

Age 26  :  Overcame the death of his sweetheart

Age 27   :  Had a nervous breakdown

Age 34  :  Lost a congressional race

Age 45   : Lost a senatorial race

Age 47  :  Failed in an effort to become vice-President

Age 49   :  Lost another senatorial race

Age 52  :  Elected the president of the United States

The real FAILURE are those people that GIVE UP.

Success can’t be measured. It can not be defined. Every human being has some talent in him/her because God has created us with a purpose in life. We should hone those skills.

The Wolf and the shepherd

A wolf had been prowling around a flock of sheep for a long time, and the shepherd watched very anxiously to prevent him from carrying off a lamb. But the wolf did not try to do any harm.

Instead he seemed to be helping the shepherd take care of the sheep. At last the shepherd got so used to seeing the wolf about that he forgot how wicked he could be.

One day he even went so far as to leave his flock in the wolf’s care while he went on an errand. But when he came back and saw how many of the flock had been killed and carried off, he knew how foolish to trust a wolf as he exclaimed. “I have been rightly served; why did I trust my sheep to a wolf?”

The Moral: Delegate your task wisely and only to people you trust.

Keep renewing yourself

This prepares you to anticipate change and be ready for it when it comes. Constantly ask yourself what new skills and competencies will be needed. Begin working on them before it becomes necessary and you will have a natural advantage.

The greatest benefit of your education lies not only in what you have learnt, but in working how to learn. Formal education is the beginning of the journey of learning. Yet I do meet youngsters who feel that they have already learnt all there is to learn. You have to constantly learn about people and how to interact effectively with them.

In the world of tomorrow, only those individuals and organisations will succeed who have mastered the art of rapid and on-going learning.

Embrace Change

Many of us are frightened of change. We feel that it has negative connotations. When we see that the opposite is true. We can free ourselves.

If there is one thing that separates children from adults it is that children love change and adults tend to fear it or are at least apprehensive of it. Children are always excited by new things, and are always willing to experiment with stuff. This can be anything from inventing a new game out of nothing to going to new places   . Their lives are in a state of constant change and they experience wonder because of it but as we get older, we begin to lose this love of change and try to keep away from change as much as possible. We try to keep things the same in all areas of our lives and hardly ready to accept change in our life. This can be fine in some areas. But the worst thing is when we stop looking for new things altogether.

In short, we give up our dreams, or fail to make new ones that can motivate us to change ourselves.

Excellence

Become your biggest cheerleader

We are what we repeatedly do.

Excellence is not an act but a habit.

Become your biggest cheerleader of all the communication you do, none is more important than how you talk to yourself. Your internal dialogue has more to do with your success in life than any other factor.

Every minute you are awake, you engage in 800 to 1,200 words of self-dialogue. In these conversations, you solve problems (or create them), make decisions (or avoid them), judge, praise, or disparage yourself. You can dwell on past mistakes or plan future achievements.

Obviously, the more positive and forward-looking your talk, the stronger and better prepared you become.

In the computer world, the word GIGO means “ garbage in, garbage out.” Your mind works the same way. What you talk to yourself about directly affects how you live your life.

Quotes of Gandhiji

I went to Ahmedabad and visited the Sabarmati Ashram of Gandhiji. It’s a great place for meditation, the quiet atmosphere gives scope for a writer’s imagination....

‘Literary education is of no value, if it is not able to build up a sound character.’

1917

‘Woman is the companion of man, gifted with equal mental capacities. She has the right to participate in the minutest details in the activities of man, and she has an equal right of freedom and liberty with him.’

1917

‘Hatred ever kills,

love never dies

Such is the vast difference between the two.

What is obtained by love is retained for all time.

What is obtained by hatred proves a burden in reality. For it increases hatred.’

Management Thoughts

The attitude of a person measures the altitude of his success. The world is viewed differently by everyone, and it is an individual’s perception that governs his ambition and the way he views the opportunities in this world.

Success, and by implication happiness is not determined by how much you earn or your status in life. Success is determined by weather or not you achieve your chosen goals in life- whatever they might be. Each person’s goals are different, and may even change during the course of his or her life.

What turns goals and dreams, and even limited objectives, into reality-Success-are the attitudes one brings to the work of living and doing. If you have an attitude that is appropriate to your objective, Success is assured. You cannot fear blood and be a good doctor or dislike people and be an effective manager. You cannot be small-minded and expect to achieve big things.

It is essential for every individual to crystallize his vision in order to develop his own paradigm and path to success. Once you are clear on what you want to do with your life, your success will depend on how well you cultivate, improve or change the attitudes needed to keep you on target.

This is an ongoing exercise throughout life. One must regularly reflect on one’s attitudes and activity, access them from the stand point of the goal, and make changes where necessary.

Today’s Bible Verse

It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in men. It is better to take refuge in him than in the mightiest king!!

Psalms 118:8:9

OH, THANKS THE Lord, for he’s so good! His loving kindness is forever.

Psalms 118:1

Today’s Bible Verse

When You Face Danger

The lord said: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze”.

  ISAIAH 43:1-2

Management Best Practice

Passion provides the continuous enthusiasm, focus and energy one need to succeed. Passion comes from inside. Passion is almost spiritual. The word enthusiasm is desired from a Greek word enthousiasmos, which means, “filled with god”. If one is passionate, he/she will be filled with spirit and naturally inspired. Passion and enthusiasm comes from caring for what one is doing. Passion is a powerful tool for success.

 1.     Passion makes my days fly.

2.     Passion makes me to complete my work in less time.

3.     Passion helps me to make better decisions

4.     Passion attracts people towards me.

5.     Passion makes me feel energetic all the time.

This is the success mantra for me and the same is percolated, down to the entire team. The team starts performing when they are passionate of their jobs. When we love our work, we start achieving our goals with ease.

Today’s Bible verses

You younger men, follow the leadership of those who are older. And all of you serve each other with humble spirits, for God gives special blessings to those who are humble, but sets himself against those who are proud. If you will humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, in his good time he will lift you up.

Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.

When you face uncertainty

The LORD said: “I know the plans I have for you………. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

                                                                                      Jeremiah 29:11

The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.

Best Moments in life……..

To laugh until it hurts your stomach.

To find mails by the thousands when you return of the vacations.

To listen to your favourite song in the radio

To go to bed and to listen while it rains out.

To clear your last exam.

To receive a call from someone, you don’t see a lot, but you want to.

To find money in a pant that you didn’t use last year.

To laugh at oneself.

Calls at midnight that last for hours.

To laugh without reasons.

The best antidote for worry……

The only Son of a Mother had died on the war front. World War II was then raging and matters had to be done with speed. A neighbour was informed and requested to convey the distressing news to the Mother.

The neighbour gathered a few friends, and went over to her house. She was on her hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor. The man said quietly, “I have something very sad to tell you”. Then he paused, “Bill has been killed in France”.

The mother hesitated just for a moment, then the brush continued going around and around. Finally she said, “Well, all of you sit down, won’t you please?  I’ll make you a cup of tea”.

They protested, but she insisted, “Please”, she said “I want to make you some tea! I feel like doing it”. And she chatted as she boiled the water, brought out some cakes, arranged the tea, and sat down with the callers.

A longtime after the mourning period was over, her neighbour said to her, “I’ve always admired you for the way you took the news of your boy’s death. But I have never been able to understand it”.

“Well” she said, “My grand mother once told me………..

“Whenever you get any distressing news, don’t stop your work. Whatever you are supposed to be doing at that moment, you should continue to do”.

The best antidote for worry and anxiety is work.

The prayer that God is pleased with…..

A cobbler and a priest died. The cobbler was hard working, totally immersed in his work all the time. The priest spent most of his time in prayer and meditation, and was venerated for his piety and holiness.

Both the soul went to the pearly gate of heaven. The cobbler was admitted immediately into heaven while the priest was asked to wait.

The priest waited for some time and was becoming irritable. He complained to St. Peter, who was guarding the heavenly gate:  “How is it that you admitted the cobbler immediately into heaven? He never attended church services and never prayer. I, who had spent most of my time in prayer and contemplation, have been asked to wait, in this fair?”

St. Peter answered; “You are wrong. The cobbler did pray to the lord with only one sentence everyday before going to bed. Our lord was much pleased with his one sentence prayer.”

The moral of the story: The cobbler used to pray “Oh Lord, I had no time to pray. Please forgive me.”

Sincerity is regarded more valuable in the spiritual realm than mere rituals and prayer.
